There are plenty of resources and support available to new and existing businesses. This is not a complete list but covers the main ones.

  • Kick Start Workshop – a four hour workshop were you will receive advice to help you make informed decisions and make your business succeed. You’ll come away with practical tools that you’ll be able to start working with right away. Includes how to write a business plan, make informed decisions to prioritise your effort, and track your success. Only $24.95 + GST with the Business Trust Marlborough subsidy. These are held throughout the year, check our Events page to see upcoming workshops
  • Marlborough Chamber of Commerce – The Chamber of Commerce is an independent membership organisation, to support Marlborough businesses. They have networking events, training workshops, advocate for business to local and central government, and provide support for export services and authorizing documentation.
  • Marlborough District Council – the Council have a business development advisory service called Smart Business Marlborough. You can view the information about what they offer and how to contact them.
  • Blenheim Business Association – the BBA focusses on the Blenheim CBD and businesses within it.
  • Picton Business Group – for all businesses in Picton, both CBD and surrounding areas.
  • Business.govt.nz – this government website has lots of information for new and existing businesses with advice, guidelines, links and templates as well as COVID-19 information.
  • NZTE – New Zealand Trade & Enterprise are involved in helping NZ business grow internationally. If you export or are looking to export they are worth contacting.
  • Name use and protection – it is important to check if your business name is available and then protect it. Using the Business.govt.nz tool OneCheck you can check the business name, trade mark, website domain and social media handles in one place
